Alice's first big break came when she starred in Disney's 102 Dalmations (2000). Tragically Alice's mother Janet, died after suffering a heart attack whilst walking her dog less that 24 hours before Alice's final screen test for the role. Alice was never able to tell her mother she won the role. During this particularly hard time, Alice leaned on fellow co-star Ioan Gruffudd, who played her romantic interest in the film and ironically they shortly  became a couple and were engaged in 2005.

102 Dalmations is the first movie I had ever seen Alice in, and the only film apart from The Abduction Club I have seen her in. I thought she was particularly gorgeous in the film and her chemistry with Ioan was really cute. 

Ioan and Alice were married in 2007 and in 2009 Alice gave birth to their first child, a daughter named Ella Betsi Janet Gruffudd (what a cute name).

Some of the films and TV Series Alice has starred in, and is particularly known for are; The Christmas Card (2006), Lost (TV Series 2009) and Brothers & Sisters (TV Series 2010-2011) which also stars her Abduction Club co-star Matthew Rhys (who is also her husbands best friend).

NAME: Matthew Rhys Evans

The first time I ever saw Matthew Rhys in a film was The Abduction Club, but I had previously heard of him as an actor and that was only because he is Ioan Gruffudd's (Fantastic Four, Amazing Grace, King Arthur) best friend, whom he lived with for almost 10 years. Matthew was also one of Ioan's best men at his wedding to Alice Evans, yes the stunning actress who played Catharine in The Abduction Club.

Matthew's first language is Welsh and he was educated at Ysgol Gynradd Gymraeg Melin Gruffydd, Whitchurch, Cardiff. His full name is Matthew Rhys Evans although he is known professionally only by his first and second names (Matthew Rhys).

Matthew is know for his work in films such as The Edge of Love, and is particularly well-known for his role in the TV series Brothers & Sisters.

Actor Profile; Daniel Lapaine

 NAME: Daniel Lapaine

BIRTHDATE: April 16, 1970, Australia

When I watched The Abduction Club for the first time I immediately fell in love with Byrne, his dashing good looks and his accent. One of my guilty pleasures is accents; I decided I just had to find out where this ‘Daniel Lapaine’ guy came from and what other movies he is in so I could watch them. What I found really astonished me.


Daniel Lapaine was born in Sydney, Australia and starred in a number Australian films and TV series’. Most notably, Daniel starred in the Australian hit, “Muriel’s Wedding” before relocating to England. Daniel has also in several TV movies such as “Helen of Troy” (2003) and “Moonshot” (2009) where he portrays Neil Armstrong.
The bulk of Daniel’s acting work has been on TV series, a few of his credits include: “A Country Practice”, “The 10^th Kingdom”, “Jane Hall”, and an episode of “Identity” and also an episode of “Poirot”.  

Currently, Daniel is married to English actress Fay Ripley and they have two children, a daughter Parker and a son named Sonny.

Unfortunately, as yet I have not seen any of Daniel’s films, since watching The Abduction Club.  As an Australian school kid, I was made to watch “Muriel’s wedding” in grade 10 but from what I can remember I didn’t enjoy it and I cannot remember much of Daniel's character. Hopefully in the future I will get the chance to see one of the other films/TV series’.

Actor Profile; Sophia Myles

NAME: Sophia Jane Myles

ABDUCTION CLUB CHARACTER: Anne Kennedy


Sophia is one of my favourite actresses. She has a natural beauty and is a brilliant actor. Every time I watch Sophia in a movie I always believe she is that character, unlike some actors who I cannot see them as anyone but one particular character (eg. Leonardo di Caprio is always Jack Dawson to me). Sophia is known for her roles in movies such as: Tristan & Isolde, Thunderbirds and Oliver Twist (TV miniseries). And for her characters in the TV series Spooks and Doctor Who.

Personally I loved Sophia in Tristan & Isolde (opposite the extremely handsome James Franco), she was just simply wonderful. Another fairly unknown role of Sophia’s was in the 1999 version of Mansfield Park where she played Fanny Price’s little sister Susan. She was great in that too.

Sophia dated 'Doctor Who' star David Tennant but broke up in 2007 and is now currently said to be dating Snow Patrol's bass guitarist Paul Wilson.
